Professor David Jarvis

David Jarvis (b. 1954) is a Professor of Music

and the Coordinator of Percussion Studies at Washington State University

and has performed internationally in both classical and jazz arenas.

In addition to performing regularly with the Dozier-Jarvis Trio,

Prof. Jarvis is a member of Jazz Northwest (The WSU Faculty Jazz Group)

and has traveled around the country giving workshops and clinics in jazz performance.

He was principal timpanist with the Washington-Idaho Symphony

for over 20 years and still the principal percussionist for the Oregon Coast Music Festival Orchestra.

Jarvis is also the co-member of the trumpet/percussion duo,

Cameradschaft and specializes in solo literature written

for percussion and electronic sound. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, MENC, ASCAP,

and an artist/clinician for the Yamaha Corporation.

His compositions have been performed all over the world.

Paul is a musician living in Palouse, WA with his wife,

son, and dog, he was used to designing

and teaching World Music courses at Washington State University.

Professor Gregory Yasinitsky

Gregory W. Yasinitsky, Coordinator of Jazz Studies and Professor of Music at Washington State University,

has a national reputation as a composer, arranger and saxophonist.

A recipient of grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts,

Meet the Composer West, The Commission Project, Artist Trust,

Washington State Music Teachers Association and ASCAP,

Yasinitsky has performed with Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Louis Bellson,

Stan Getz, Lionel Hampton, Manhattan Transfer,

Mel Torme and many others.

He also has written music especially for Clark Terry, Dave Liebman and

the USAF "Airmen of Note" big band, with numerous musical works

published by Kendor Music, Warner Brothers, Advance Music,

Hal Leonard, Dorn, Walrus, UNC Jazz Press, Daniel Barry Publications

and Hoyt Editions. His compositions and saxophone playing

can be heard on recordings released by Soul Note, Palo Alto Records,

the Musical Heritage Society, Vienna Modern Masters, Arizona University Recordings,

Open Loop Recordings and his own label Yazz Recordings.

Under Yasinitsky's leadership, the Washington State University

Jazz Studies Program has received widespread recognition

including awards from DownBeat magazine, invitations

to perform at prestigious conferences

and top awards at major jazz festivals.
